Goodness there is so many books in this world. So many book reviews in this world. Heck lets add another. The book I would like to review is Keeping the Moon by Sarah Dessen.
This book was not what I thought it would be. I've only read one other book by her and that would be called Just Listen. It was ok. This though was an amazing book. I enjoyed everything that had to do with it. From Colie and her lip ring to Mira and her eccentric clothes. Morgan and Isabel were not any characters I've really seen before.
We are going to talk about Morgan and Isabel. They are like sisters. Living in the same house and working together. Just doing everything together. Isabel though was a beautiful blonde girl that always got the boys so when Morgan found the boy of her dreams she couldn't help but fall in love with him. One day Morgan gets an idea. Suprise Mark, her fiance. Well when she got there she found a stripper in his room with him. Yet she kept going back to him. Then he came around to surprise her. So on... Until she surprised him one last time and he had a stripper and another girl. Well the girl was HIS WIFE!!!!! Rotten dude I tell you. He knew she loved him too but he just played her and she fell into that trap. There was another twist near the end. Isabel had beautiful pictures of girls on her mirror. One picture though was of a bigger girl who looked like a nerd. She told Colie that was her cousin. IT WAS HER!!!! I was totally expecting that actually. Moving on.
I have to say though. There were a few things I did not like about this book though and you guys might disagree with me but I didnt and I'm sorry. I didn't really think the back flashes worked all that well sometimes. Colie only really had them when she was being insulted or something. Then she would remember when she got made fun of when she was bigger. Yea I get it. Do I really need to know every time because you're to scared to stand up for yourself so you shrink in your shell? That also drove me crazy. I wish she just stood up for herself. It took her seriously a long time to stand up for herself. I like strong female lead characters, not wimpy ones that can't do anything but shrink in the shell even though they could do something. She should've noticed Norman liked her. I mean c'mon is it really that hard to tell that he liked her? He did in case you didn't know. Goodness so blind to love.
One more topic that has had a lot of things said about. Her mom abandoning her. Colie did feel her mom left her for the world even though she could've tooken her with her. I don't know what I think of this. I don't think that she did that on purpose. Is that even really abondoning? I dont think so. Maybe her mom just wanted to travel the world alone? I dont really know because the author didn't look Kiki's head. All I do know is that is NOT called abondoning. I give this book 3.5 stars.
